Cloudspinner sat on the edge of the clearing. It had been a moon since Nightpaw had disappeared, she had always liked the young she-cat. She had always thought of them as friends...Truthfully Cloudspinner had been jealous of the stunning she-cat. She shook her head. There was no time to be sad, so much was happening, she had feelings for Eagleheart, and she was sure that Wonderstar did too, IronClan was growing stronger, and her dreams were getting stranger and stranger...
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey join for a clan meeting beneath High Tree!" Wonderstar's voice flowed over the cats. "We have much to talk about today! To start Bumblestep is taking a break from deputy! He wants to have a moon or so of rest before he stands back up to his duty.." She looked at him and he nodded. Wonderstar flicked her tail a tad aggravated. "So Leafsun will be taking his place for now!" She nodded to the bright white and ginger she-cat who hid her glowing green eyes.
"This is a proud day for ForestClan! By naming apprentice we show that we will grow strong and live on! Next we have kits that have reached their sixth moon! Hiddenkit, Risekit, Greykit, Lionkit, Windskit, and Snowkit please step forward!" She called the six kits.
"Hiddenkit, Risekit, Lionkit, Windskit, Snowkit, and Greykit. From this day forward you shall be known as Hiddenpaw, Risepaw, Lionpaw, Windspaw, Snowpaw, and Greypaw!"
"Hiddenpaw, your mentor will be Eagleheart. Risepaw your mentor will be Leafsun. Lionpaw, your mentor will be Cloudspinner," Cloudspinner looked at Wonderstar with surprise, her ears pricked with shock that she was going to be a mentor. Lightning cracked over head, followed by roaring thunder. All the cats jumped and screeched. But Wonderstar kept talking,"Windspaw, I will mentor you. Snowpaw, your mentor will be Blackheart, and Greypaw your mentor will be Pitchedvoice." She nodded to the mentors, including Cloudspinner. "That is all! Clan dismissed!" She let the cats all pad off.
"Hi Cloudspinner!" Lionpaw's voice sounded from behind her. She turned and touched noses with the young tom who was already her size. "My dad wants to talk to me, sorry!" He let his ears fall back and he ran to Blackheart with urgency. Had she scared him? Sorrow nipped at her heart, and rain started to thump lightly on the ground. She shook her head, why was it every time she felt an emotion different things happened around her...?
Cloudspinner wondered in the forest for quite a while, her blue eyes looking through the trees. There was a crack behind her and she turned swiftly, there was a massive battle scarred fox standing a few mnouse lengths away from her, a snarl ripped from its chest and through the air. Thunder cracked over head as a chill swept through Cloudspinner, what was this fox waiting for...
"Spinner of Clouds." A ragged and rough voice seemed to slip out of the foxes throat, it was mangled and sent shivers down her spine.
"Cloudspinner." She corrected. "How do you know me?" Her eyes flickered, it wasn't every day that you met a talking fox...
"Come, much to do in little time." He said, barley able to spit the words from his mouth.
"How do you know me?!" She insisted, he was avoiding her question!
"Not important. Just come, now." He turned and stalked into the forest, his scrawny shape melting into the blackness. Cloudspinner followed, tentatively. She was told to never let a fox go, to always shred it the second you saw it, she couldn't possibly trust this one! But for some reason she wanted to see what he wanted from her. She saw him sitting in front of various objects, each different in many ways.
"Sit Cloud Spinner." He stood and motioned for her to take his place. She blinked at him and sat. He looked at her, she was expecting cold black eyes, but only saw kind, deep, brown eyes. "Look at the objects in front of you." He commended with a strangled sound. She did as she was told, there was a large stone, as large as a kit, a leaf, a rose, the pool of water, a piece of metal, and some strange two-leg object.
"What do I do with them?" She looked at him with curious eyes.
"This is test. Do amazing thing." He nodded. "I cannot tell chosen what they do." His cat was hard to understand at best, and when he spoke he looked as if he was in pain. She stared at first the stone, amazing...if she was right than this should work...The rock wobbled on the ground, before it rose slowly in front of her. She blinked in amazement before the rock fell. She did the same with the rose and the leaf, but when she came to the water she let it rise and rise, until it was far above them, higher than hte clouds and the birds.
"Wow..." She whispered. She looked at the fox, but he was gone, and no scent of him remained. Almost as if he was never there. She gaped. She blinked but looked at the metal, something deep and furious rose inside her, and in an instant the metal was crushed from all sides, forming dust on the ground.
She stood and took a step back, if she got angry at the metal, what could she do to a cat...? She blinked and shook her head for the thought to leave her mind. She heard rustling behind her.
"Come out!" She growled with fury, she hated the fact that someone could be watching. Was is the phantom fox again...? But only Lionpaw stepped out of the gloom, his fur glittering like gold in the dim light. "And the others." She hissed. She saw a shadow move across the ground, but no cat. Until it stepped into the light, where Risepaw came into being. "Windspaw, and Hiddenpaw too." She let her gaze soften. Windspaw came in a flash of breeze and sat beside his two other litter-mates. But where was Hiddenpaw?
"I'm here." Came Hiddenpaw's soft voice. From right beside Cloudspinner. But she couldn't see Hiddenpaw, only a hazy shape in the air.
"Were all different Cloudspinner. Trust me. Lets go find Quickpaw, he should be waiting for us." Lionpaw's reassuring gaze made Cloudspinner's heart pound and also found herself following the new apprentice. But then she remembered, Quickpaw was from IronClan! She felt Lionpaw's shoulder on hers, his scent washed over her and she calmed again.
"Don't worry. We will explain." He purred and they padded to the IronClan border.
